The research candidate<\/h3>\n

Maree Kilpatrick was born in Gympie, and grew up in rural South Burnett. She studied a Bachelor of Music under Marilyn Meier-Kapavale at the University of Southern Queensland, Toowoomba and was the 2011 recipient of the Joyce Campbell Lloyd traveling scholarship. In 2017 she studied a Master of Music Performance degree at the University of Auckland with Stephen de Pledge. Maree is currently based in Brisbane, working as a freelance pianist and music tutor, and is a Doctor of Musical Arts candidate at Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University, researching the topic Exploring contemporary curated performances of Australian works for piano trio, through artistic and contextual perspectives<\/em>, under the supervision of Dr Catherine Grant and Daniel De Borah. The research team<\/h3>\n

Vital to this research project is the contribution of both the research team and the collaborative musicians. The research team involves my supervisors, Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University academic staff Dr Catherine Grant and Daniel De Borah, and Brisbane-based musicians Jason Tong and Kirsten Tong.<\/p>\n

Performer bios<\/h3>\n
Jason Tong<\/h5>\n

Jason Tong is a Brisbane based violinist. He is an Artistic Associate with Camerata \u2013 Queensland\u2019s Chamber Orchestra. Jason regularly performs with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra. He performs throughout Queensland with these ensembles in their tours, outreach programs, and education programs. Jason regularly performs as one half of \u2018Duoz\u2019: a cello and violin duo with his wife. Jason trained at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music with Carl Pini and Wanda Wilkomirska. He also received training with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra through their mentoring orchestra, the Sydney Sinfonia. Jason has toured and performed throughout Europe and Asia. Most recently he performed in workshops and projects in Italy and Japan.<\/p>\n

Kirsten Tong<\/h5>\n

Cellist Kirsten Tong has performed as both an orchestral and chamber musician in numerous cities across Australia, Asia, and Europe. Kirsten studied cello performance with Gwyn Roberts at the University of Queensland, and she recently participated in performance workshops in Italy and the UK. Kirsten performs regularly with her husband Jason as part of the violin and cello duo Duoz, and she is completing a PhD at Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>
